Ike Dunukofia plegdes to sustain the culture of his Fore-fathers.

What was said to be a new yam festival turnout to be a cultural funfare at the palace of High Chief Dr. Vincent Udobi, (Onwa ifitedunu) in Dunukofia Local government area, Anambra State.

The festival which attracted dignitaries from all spheres of life including government officials both from local and state all came to pay homage and to be part in the history making.

You’ll recall that Chief Vincent had announced a low-key festival this year following the just concluded TRIPLE event he had earlier this year, to that end, the festival had guest in attendance who turnout massively as Chief Vincent Udobi (Onwa ifitedunu) who received them, the traditional institutions, town unions, village elders and various groups were in attendance.

High Chief Dr. Vincent Udobi, (Onwa ifitedunu) celebrated the New yam festival by first cutting the new yam and offering special payers for the people of Ifitedunu.

Ifitedunu is a blessed community with wealthy and influential sons and daughters who practice Aku ruo ulo, (investing back home) to uplift their community, Onwa Ifitedunu and other prominent sons and daughters has made a significant effort in transforming the community into a town, Despite their towering achievements, they remain humble and committed to preserving their culture and tradition, they have also played a vital roles in the growth and development of the town.

Onwa in his good will message says “iam happy seeing everyone celebrating the festival both the chiefs and elders including the locals, everybody is happy eating and drinking, dancing and we are enjoying ourselves” his massage further opined that,
“our culture will not die, we shall keep doing it and we shall also encourage and support our local leaderships”

However, Chief Vincent in the spirit of the festival prayed for the Paramount ruler of ifitedunu and his forebearers on the throne, saying that his leadership will bring lasting peace and prosperity, progress and safety in the entire community.”

Chief Dr. Vincent Udobi however thanked God for preserving him over the years and for keeping the community alive to witness this year’s 2025 Festival, He also prayed for long life and prosperity, unity, love, and understanding among communities that made up Dunukofia local government area, Chief Udobi however appealed to governor Soludo to prioritize the issue of security in Anambra State.

In the meantime, The National Chairman of APC Reconciliation committee, Anambra State, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo Akaekpuchionwa N’ Umuchu, has felicitated with Chief Vincent Udobi (Onwa ifitedunu), on the occasion of the New yam festival, he prayed God to grant him long life and good health.

According to him, he says that the Festival is more than just a celebration— “it is a celebration of life, hard work, It reminds us of the values that bind us together as a people, community resilience, respect for elders, and reverence for the land that sustains us, is a period of unity and brotherliness in Dunukofia”

In his good will message, Akaekpuchionwa N’ Umuchu urged those in diaspora to always make out time to come home during new yam Festival to see and Foster development in the community, he prayed that this year’s festival brings abundance, peace, and prosperity, May our youths continue to shine. And may our land continue to flourish.
