The Progressive Students Movement (PSM) has commended the Ogun State Police Command and ACP Shola Oladele for their exemplary humanitarian act in rescuing an accident victim and paying his medical bills.

In a statement issued in Enugu on Saturday, PSM National President Bestman Okereafor described the gesture as “an outstanding act of humanity and professionalism.”

Oladele, the Area Commander of Sango Ota, reportedly rescued an accident victim at the Onipanu area of Ota, took him to the hospital, purchased prescribed medications, and settled his medical expenses.

Okereafor said the act reflects international best practices and aligns with the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s drive for humane and accessible policing.

“This gesture reaffirms the slogan ‘Police Is Your Friend.’ We urge the public to appreciate and support such good deeds by the police and other security agencies,” he said.

He also called on other police commands across the country to emulate the Ogun Command’s example under Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo.

Okereafor further urged President Bola Tinubu to remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy despite distractions from “mischievous elements.”
