Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has lauded the role of partnership in strengthening the state’s healthcare system.

The governor was reacting to the donation of vital medical supplies and equipment to the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH) by SAGA Foundation Inc., Canada.

Governor Mbah, who had earlier received the foundation’s founder, Dr. Shola Agboola, in his office, expressed gratitude in a message posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @PNMbah, describing the gesture as more than charity.

“This act of service goes beyond charity – it is a reaffirmation of the bond between our brothers and sisters in the diaspora and the homeland we share,” Governor Mbah said.

He noted that the donation aligns with his administration’s vision of repositioning healthcare as a priority sector, stressing that no resident of Enugu should be left behind in accessing quality medical services.

The governor emphasized that his government “deeply values this collaboration” and remains open to more partnerships with diaspora groups and organizations that share the dream of building a healthier, more prosperous Enugu.

“Together, we can strengthen our healthcare infrastructure, empower our professionals, and give Ndi Enugu the world-class care they deserve,” he added.

Earlier, the Enugu State Government team, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia; the Commissioner for Health, Prof. George Ugwu; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Barr. Olangwa Ezekwu; and the Chief Medical Director of ESUTH, Prof. Bethrand Ngwu, had taken delivery of the supplies from representatives of the SAGA Foundation at the Central Medical Store, Enugu.
