It was an evening soaked in elegance, culture and gratitude as High Chief Victor Wayles Egukawhore, renowned businessman and community leader, rolled out the drums to celebrate his Golden Jubilee in grand style.
The landmark celebration, held amid glitz and glamour, drew friends, associates, traditional rulers, captains of industry and political heavyweights from across Nigeria, all gathered to honour a man widely described as a bridge-builder and benefactor.
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere radiated sophistication. Cultural displays blended seamlessly with modern flair, reflecting the celebrant’s deep respect for tradition and his global outlook.
The event stood not just as a birthday celebration, but as a public thanksgiving for six decades of impact, resilience and purpose.
Adding colour to the night was an electrifying lineup of performances by multiple award-winning artists, including Afrobeats icon Davido, energetic hitmaker Orezi, vocal powerhouse Teni, soul-stirring Timi Dakolo, gospel sensation Mercy Chinwo, alongside rib-cracking comedy from AY, with Gordons expertly steering the event as Master of Ceremonies.
Their performances kept the arena alive well into the night.
The emotional high point came as family members took turns to eulogise the celebrant.
His stepdaughter, Dr (Mrs) Annie, described him as “a rare listener whose wisdom heals and guides.”
His second son, Dr. Combs, captured the essence of the moment simply, saying, “Daddy is very kind and creative.”
Other guests praised High Chief Wayles’ selfless leadership, humility and unwavering commitment to community development, particularly in Enhwe, a town many said has benefitted immensely from his generosity and vision.
The presence of the Governors of Delta and Bayelsa States, diplomats, ambassadors, top government officials and respected dignitaries further underscored the national significance of the celebration and the esteem in which the celebrant is held.
As the night drew to a close, one thing was clear: Enhwe will long remember the Golden Jubilee of High Chief Victor Wayles, not merely for its splendour, but for the powerful story of a life defined by service, love and enduring legacy.
