A Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) Aneke Paschal Onyeka Care Foundation, (APOCF) on Thursday donated about 1,500 exercise books to rural schools in Enugu.
The schools are Community Primary School, Uhuona, Ugbawka, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State and Station Primary School, Agbani in Nkanu West LGA of the state.
Donating the exercise books on behalf of the Foundation, the Programme Officer, Mr. Obinna Ogbu, explained that the gesture was to encourage the pupils to show more interest in Education and to read their books.
Ogbu said that the intervention became necessary in order to help them achieve their dreams of becoming whatever they want to become in life which only education can provide.
He said that by being educated, they have the opportunity of becoming governors, senators, lawyers, bankers, journalists and doctors.
“This intervention is to help you in your studies. With education, you can achieve whatever you want to achieve in life and become whatever you want to become. For you to be a governor, senator, teacher, journalist, doctor, you must take your learning seriously.
“There is need to increase quality education. We want to ensure that education is advanced especially in the rural areas.
“The goal of this exercise is to assist you. We are interested in your future. Don’t play with your learning. If you want to go far in life, you must be serious with your education,” he reiterated.
