FG Generated N2.4b From Marriages In 2024

The Federal Government has said it generated about N2.4 billion in 2024 from marriage contracts via its marriage registry at the Ministry of Interior.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking at a press conference in Abuja on January 28.

According to him, the ministry also generated over N3.2 billion from expatriate quota applications, saying overall, there was a 150 percent increase in revenue generated.

The Minister also mentioned that its Ministry repatriated 828 foreigners to various countries in 2024.

While he did not list their specific offences, he said the repatriation was carried out by the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.
