The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free, fair and peaceful governorship election in Anambra State.

Ezeokenwa gave the commendation shortly after INEC declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo winner of the November 8 governorship poll.

He described the exercise as the most credible in the state’s recent history and lauded residents and the media for their peaceful conduct throughout the process.

Also reacting, the representative of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Comrade Patrick Obianyo, congratulated Soludo on his victory but raised concerns over isolated cases of irregularities. He queried how INEC recorded incidents of over-voting in a polling unit despite the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which combines accreditation and voting simultaneously.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, said the election outcome reflected Governor Soludo’s performance in office and the people’s confidence in his leadership. He praised the people of Ogbaru Local Government Area for their overwhelming support and pledged continued cooperation with the governor in his second term.
