[PHOTOS] Enugu South: PDP Monthly Meeting Resumes With Great Enthusiasm

In a significant return to routine political engagement, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu South Local Government chapter, weekend, held its monthly meeting, marking the first gathering since the recent local government elections, state and zonal congresses.

The meeting which took place at the party’s secretariat, Agbani road was attended by key party stakeholders; all the ward Chairmen, Councillors, Women leaders among many others.

The meeting provided an opportunity for party leaders and members to regroup and strategize for future initiatives under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah.

The atmosphere was charged with renewed energy as party members expressed their commitment to advancing the party’s agenda and initiatives.

In his address, the Enugu South PDP Chairman, Hon. Freedom Nnam, expressed profound gratitude to party members for their unwavering support during the local government elections and the zonal congresses.

Acknowledging the challenges faced, he highlighted the strength of the party’s unity and resilience, stating, “We have been able to bounce back because of the type of Governor we have. Our party is now more formidable and strong, supported by experienced leaders willing to work for the benefit of our people.”

Hon. Nnam reiterated his commitment to aligning the party’s efforts with Governor Peter Mbah’s administrative agenda, emphasizing the importance of delivering the dividends of democracy to the grassroots. He commended the impressive turnout of both members and stakeholders during the recent ward meetings across the 13 wards in Enugu South, expressing hope for even greater attendance in the future as citizens recognize the Governor’s impactful leadership.

While addressing the party, the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, extended his greetings to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu state, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He referred to Governor Mbah as the individual whom God has used to revitalize the PDP in Enugu State through his exemplary governance. “The party is regaining the trust of the people and has become more formidable and unshakable,” he declared.

Hon. Ani, a dedicated party member with extensive experience as a former ward Executive member, former Councillor and a former Leader of Enugu South Legislative council encouraged members to maintain their momentum. “As you have turned out in large numbers for this meeting, I urge you to do the same in your respective ward meetings, “We do not have any other party apart from the PDP. The best way to receive from God is to thank Him for what He has given to others.”

 

The state monitoring team, led by State Deputy Chairman of the party, Barr. Steve Oruruo and the state Assistant Legal Adviser, Barr. Tony Nwoye recognized the leadership’s effectiveness of the party in the Local government. Barr. Oruruo described the Council Boss as not only being a symbol of unity but, one who has the unifying force capable of restoring faith in the party.

Barr Oruruo implored members, regardless of their positions, to embrace humility and respect for all. The recent election served as a powerful reminder that true power resides in the hands of the people. He urged those in positions of authority to seize this opportunity to serve with excellence. “If you have the chance to govern,” he declared, “govern well.”

“In Enugu state, Governor Peter Mbah has taken decisive action to address the state’s challenges. He has embarked on a comprehensive transformation across all 260 political wards, focusing on; construction of ultra-modern healthcare facilities, establishment of Smart Green Schools and intensive teacher training programs, construction and dualization of rural and urban roads, completion of abandoned projects, prompt payment of salaries and many other transformative projects”. To ensure the success of these initiatives, Barr. Oruruo emphasized the importance of unwavering loyalty and spreading the message of Governor Mbah’s achievements throughout Enugu state.

In their respective speeches, notable stakeholders like Hon. Peter Nnaji, Member 1 of the Enugu State Local Government Service Commission; former Local Government Chairman, Hon. Monday Eneh; former Commissioner for culture and tourism, Barr. Chika Ogbe; Former member of Enugu State HOA, Hon. Paul Ogbe among other stakeholders expressed their commitment to unity and urged members to remain dedicated to the party’s advancement.

The meeting ended with renewed energy, as members rallied together in support of the PDP’s vision for Enugu South and the state at large, reinforcing their collective commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the constituents.
