Enugu South Council Chairman Sponsors 10 Lawyers To NBA Conference

The Chairman, Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, has sponsored at least ten lawyers from the council to attend the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC).

The AGC, which is the flagship event of the Nigerian Bar Association, will hold in Enugu from August 22 to 28, at the International Conference Centre.

This year’s conference is historic, as it marks the first time the NBA’s national gathering will be hosted in Enugu State and the South East region.

The Secretary of the council, Barr. Kenneth Nnayammah, who communicated the sponsorship to the beneficiaries, said the initiative was part of the chairman’s efforts to support the professional development of legal practitioners in the area.

Nnayammah said, the decision to support the lawyers was borne out of the chairman’s belief in the legal profession as a noble institution that upholds the constitution and plays a key role in shaping society.

He emphasized the importance of fostering stronger partnerships between local government and legal bodies to enhance governance and social justice.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the most senior among them, Barr. Lawrence Ogbodo, expressed appreciation to the chairman for the gesture.

He noted that this is the first time a council chairman has shown such interest in their welfare and professional development.

He pledged support and partnership for the betterment of the council and society at large with their profession.

Some of the lawyers present at the meeting included Barr. Innocent Ogbodo, Barr. Francis Ani, Barr. Okechukwu Edeh, Barr. Jennifer Okoh, Barr. Sunday Nsude Ogbodo and Barr. Emmanuel Ani.

The legal practitioners were drawn from various communities within the council, including Amechi Uno, Amechi, Amechi Uwani, Obeagu, Akwuke, Ugwuaji, and the Urban area.

The theme of this year’s NBA conference is “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”

The Enugu South Chairman’s sponsorship sets a commendable example of local government support for professional growth and civic engagement.
