The Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Dr. Caleb Onyema Ani, has led the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise in the council area, formally flagging off the process at the grassroots.
Dr. Ani registered as a member of the APC at Obeagu-Uno/Amechi-Uno Ward 11, his ward, in the presence of party leaders, officials, supporters and community members, marking the official commencement of the e-registration exercise in Enugu South Local Government Area.
The exercise, which had earlier commenced in parts of the Enugu East Senatorial Zone, is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and expanding its membership base across the state.
Speaking after his registration, the council chairman called on residents to take advantage of the exercise and register with the APC, describing the party as a credible platform for development-driven governance.

He cited recent federal interventions in the South East, including the establishment of the South East Development Commission and ongoing rehabilitation of the Enugu–Onitsha and Enugu–Port Harcourt expressways, as evidence of the impact of the current administration.

Dr. Ani also acknowledged the efforts of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, noting that his policies and projects have contributed significantly to infrastructural renewal and economic activities across the state.
He stressed the importance of political alignment between the federal, state and local governments, saying such synergy is critical for accelerating development at the grassroots level.
The council chairman urged political appointees, party leaders and members to intensify mobilisation across the council’s 13 wards to ensure widespread participation in the registration exercise.
He further charged APC caretaker committees to deepen grassroots engagement by reaching communities, villages and kindreds.
Dr. Ani noted that the party’s target of securing two million votes in Enugu State would largely depend on sustained mobilisation and active participation at the local government level.
He expressed confidence that Enugu South Local Government Area would play a strategic role in strengthening the APC’s presence in the state, adding that the growing turnout for the e-registration exercise reflects renewed public confidence in the party’s direction and leadership.
