The Enugu Musical Band, a.k.a REF Music, has debuted a new Extended Play (EP) titled “Milestone” to thrill and captivate its fans.
The musical band, founded by Raymond Egwuchukwu and Frank Nwaiwu in 2021, had 12 talented members performing different roles that made the band unique.
Egwuchukwu disclosed that EP, “Milestone”, was a testament to their creativity and dedication.
He said the new song featured five tracks and they had a concert/listening party for it on the 15th, showcasing the group’s versatility as artists and their commitment to pushing boundaries.
According to him, each song tells a story, capturing the highs and lows of life, love, and self-discovery.
“Milestone” is more than just an EP, it’s a reflection of our journey and a promise of what’s to come,” he said.
Egwuchukwu described REF Music as a spirited live band performance group and artistry collection that brought together 12 talented individuals with a harmonious blend of six vocalists and six instrumentalists.
“Each brings his unique flair and expertise to create a sound that is both powerful and soulful.
“We are more than just a band; we are a family united by our love for
music and our commitment to delivering memorable performances.
“Our name, REF Music, stands for Real, Emotional, and Fearless- three pillars that define our artistry and performance.
“They are a fusion of genres, blending elements of soul, funk, jazz, rock, and afrobeat, to create a sound that is uniquely ours,” he said.
Egwuchukwu described the “Milestone Concert” as a night to remember, adding that it was more than just a performance.
“It was a celebration of music, passion, and the incredible journey we embarked on as a 12-member live band.
“The energy, the crowd, and the shared love for music made it an experience to live for and one that will forever be etched in our hearts and minds,” he said.
The musician added that from the opening note to the final encore, the energy in the room was clear.
“Our setlist included tracks from the “Milestone” EP, as well as some
crowd favourites and surprise covers that had everyone on their feet.
“Both founders are instrumentalists. I am a bassist while Frank is a guitarist.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to adapt and refine, ensuring that every show is a fresh and thrilling experience for our audience.
“In addition to our live performances, we are also passionate about creating original music,” he said.
Egwuchukwu further explained that the concert was also a celebration of their growth as a band, looking back at where they started; “and seeing how far we’ve gone is incredibly humbling and motivating.
“Our next project will build on the foundation of “Milestone” while exploring new sounds and
themes,” he said.
