Some members of the Labour Party (LP) in Udenu Local Government Area, Thursday, resigned their membership of the party and defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) ahead of the September 21 local government election in Enugu State.

The defectors in their resignation letter, addressed to the Obollo-Etiti Ward LP Chairman, said: “This decision comes after careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of our values, goals and aspirations.

The letter reads in full: “We, the Udenu Obidents Movement for Good Governance hereby announce our decision to withdraw our support and membership from Labour Party – LP Nigeria and join Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria effective from 12th September, 2024 .

“This decision comes after careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of our values, goals, and aspirations. We have come to realize that our current affiliation no longer aligns with our principles and objectives.

“We are excited to join PDP which shares our vision and commitment and we believe that this move will enable us to more effectively advocate for our interests and contribute to meaningful change in Udenu Local Government.

“We appreciate the opportunities and experiences we’ve had while part of labour Party and are grateful for the relationships we’ve built. However, we feel that this transition is necessary for our growth and success.

“We look forward to this new chapter and the opportunities it brings. Together, we will continue to work towards a brighter future for all.
