As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and foster socio-economic development, the Enugu State Government, under the progressive leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining a strategic and collaborative relationship with the Nigeria Police Force.

The Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, gave this assurance when he hosted the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Bitrus Giwa, during a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Justice Headquarters in Enugu.

Dr. Udeh emphasized that the collaboration between the Ministry and the Police Force will include the provision of technical and legal support to empower the Police in discharging their constitutional responsibilities without hindrance.

Highlighting the broader impact of security in Enugu, Dr. Udeh explained that peace and safety in the State directly affect both regional and national stability, noting that insecurity not only disrupts local livelihoods but also hampers the movement of investments and people across Nigeria.

“When we maintain this partnership, we’re not just doing it for ourselves,” Dr. Udeh said. “We’re doing it for the good of all Nigerians, because security in Enugu affects neighbouring states and even distant ones. A businessman from Lagos, Abuja, or Sokoto can only consider Enugu a viable destination if he is assured of safety.”

He added that a safe and secure environment builds investor confidence and drives economic growth, aligning perfectly with Governor Mbah’s bold vision to grow Enugu State’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.

The Attorney General assured the Police Commissioner that the Ministry of Justice remains fully open and responsive to requests for support, urging him to reach out whenever the need arises.

In his remarks, CP Mamman Giwa expressed appreciation to Dr. Udeh for the warm reception and for providing a welcoming platform to discuss strategic security issues. He acknowledged that Governor Mbah’s ambitious economic goals can only be achieved in a secure environment.

According to him, the security of Enugu is paramount, and they will do everything possible to ensure that His Excellency’s vision for the state becomes a reality. He also assured that his office will maintain constant communication with the Attorney General’s office to proactively address any security threat.

This marks a further concrete step in the Mbah administration’s resolve to reposition Enugu as a secure, investment-friendly state, where justice, peace, and prosperity are guaranteed through effective inter-agency cooperation.
