In furtherance of his commitment to entrench an effective community policing approach, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has embarked on a tour of the Command’s five Area Commands—Agbani, Enugu, Nsukka, Oji-River, and Udenu.

Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in a statement in Enugu on Mondays said the tour provided an opportunity for CP Giwa to formally familiarise and interact with police personnel, other security agencies, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) members, religious leaders, market and transport union heads, town union presidents-general, youth leaders, hoteliers, and other stakeholders.

Addressing officers, the CP reaffirmed his resolve to ensure that policing in Enugu State remains proactive, professional, and devoid of rights abuses, extortion, and all forms of corruption.

He charged the personnel to embrace emotional intelligence in discharging their duties and align with the Command’s vision, warning that deviations would attract strict disciplinary measures.

He further stressed that community support was critical to crime prevention and urged stakeholders to sustain their cooperation through the community policing strategy.

As part of the tour, CP Giwa paid courtesy visits to several traditional rulers across the senatorial zones and local governments, where he received royal blessings.

He visited the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Barr. Julius Nnaji of Nike Kingdom, Chairman of the Enugu East Senatorial District Traditional Rulers Council; His Royal Majesty, Igwe Chima Achiekwelu of Achi, Oji-River LGA; and His Royal Majesty, Igwe Greg Ugwu, Grand Patron of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council and Igwe of Ataku Akegbe-Ugwu Kingdom, Nkanu West LGA.
