The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has taken the fight against crime to Udenu Local Government Area, meeting with community leaders and security stakeholders to tighten the noose on emerging threats.
The meeting, held at the Udenu LGA Secretariat, brought together traditional rulers, local government officials, town union leaders, and security operatives to chart new measures for community safety.
Mr. Giwa, who reviewed recent security incidents in the area, described them as isolated but warned they must not be allowed to escalate.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and work closely with the Police and other agencies to sustain peace.
“Security is a collective duty. Everyone must be involved in protecting our communities,” the Police Commissioner said.
The Chairman of the council area, Aka Eze Aka, pledged full support for the Police and ongoing security initiatives, while the Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRH Igwe Patrick Eze, assured of stronger intelligence-sharing efforts by community leaders.
Participants at the meeting including Neighbourhood Watch operatives, Forest Guards, and vigilante groups promised to intensify patrols and strengthen coordination with security agencies.
Top officers at the event included the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Gregory Itobore; Udenu Area Commander, ACP Bernard Amaga Ukwa; and the Commander, 76 PMF Enugu.
