In continuation of his routine surveillance and confidence-building patrols across rural areas in Enugu State, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, Friday, embarked on a patrol of communities in Oji-River Local Government Area.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the CP also visited the Premier Police College, Oji-River (PCO), for an on-the-spot security assessment and to address newly recruited Police Constables currently undergoing training.
Communities patrolled during the visit included Oji-River, Achi, and Inyi, while the CP also made stops at the Inyi Police Division and the Oji-River Area Command Headquarters.
At the Police College, CP Giwa was received by the Commandant, CP Regina Udoette, who led him on a tour of the College’s key facilities and other important locations for security evaluation.

The Commissioner also addressed the recruit constables undergoing intensive training in line with the newly improved and modernised training curriculum, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

He urged the recruits to take their training seriously and to embrace value-added learning — a process of acquiring and internalising new, meaningful and practical knowledge.
He further advised them to make discipline, honesty, diligence, and courage their guiding principles, reminding them that upon completion of their training, they will become full-fledged police officers with the solemn duty of serving Nigeria and Nigerians with integrity.
The CP also visited the Inyi Police Division Headquarters, where he addressed a joint team of the Command’s Police operatives and troops of the Nigerian Army Enugu, charging them to remain vigilant, courageous, and committed to delivering optimal security outcomes in the area.
His final stop was at the Oji-River Area Command Headquarters, where he similarly encouraged officers to remain dedicated and proactive in the discharge of their duties.
Accompanying the Commissioner during the tour were ACP Lucky Seibai, the Oji-River Area Commander; CSP Henry Obili, Chief Superintendent of Police Operations; and CSP Kanawa Ahinda, Second-in-Command, No. 3 PMF Squadron Enugu. Others include CSP Komo Folmi, the Commanding Officer of the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU Base 10 Enugu); the Divisional Police Officer, Oji-River, CSP Ikechukwu Okoro, and DSP John Owoicho, Distress Rapid Squad (DRS) Operations Officer, among other senior officers.
