The Enugu State Commissioner of Police,  Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has convened a strategic conference with senior officers of the Command at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu.

The conference, which focused on reviewing the Command’s policing activities for the past month and strategizing for the months ahead, particularly the “Ember Months,” provided a platform for the CP to issue fresh directives to supervisory officers.

According to a statement by the police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, yesterday, the Commissioner charged them to sustain the Command’s professional and proactive crime-fighting approach and ensure optimal public security and safety across their areas of responsibility.

“CP Giwa cautioned the officers against lapses in supervision, warning that they would be held vicariously liable for any misconduct or negligence by their subordinates that could compromise ethical standards or security.

“He urged them to remain focused on professionally actualizing the Nigeria Police Force’s mandates, especially during the “Ember Months” and the forthcoming Yuletide season.

“Relaying key outcomes of the recent Strategic Police Officers’ Conference convened by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the CP reiterated the IGP’s directives on accountability, professionalism, proactive and result-driven policing in service of the public interest and not private gain.

“He further underscored the IGP’s zero tolerance for misuse of police authority in civil matters, particularly land disputes, warning that any officer or their subordinates found culpable would face the consequences.”

The conference was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, including Area Commanders and Commanding Officers of Police Mobile Force Squadrons, as well as Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical Units and Sections of the Command.
