Dr. Kingsley Tochi Udeh, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to tackle the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
The partnership aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of ensuring the safety, well-being, and prosperity of the citizens and residents of Enugu State.
Speaking during an advocacy visit by the Zonal Commander of NDLEA, ACGN Bridget Viashimah, accompanied by her team of officials to the office of the Attorney General, Dr. Udeh emphasized Dr. Peter Mbah led administration’s commitment to safeguarding the future of the state’s youth by addressing the dangers of drug abuse through education, enforcement, and proactive interventions.
Udeh outlined the governor’s plans to focus on public enlightenment campaigns, particularly targeting young people, to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
He further assured the NDLEA boss of the administration’s unwavering support in enforcing existing laws against drug abuse and trafficking to the fullest extent.
“This partnership underscores Gov. Mbah’s dedication to tackling criminal activities and promoting a healthier, safer environment for all. By working together, we can significantly reduce the prevalence of drug abuse and disrupt the operations of traffickers and dealers in the state,” Dr. Udeh stated.
Commending the NDLEA’s efforts to rid the country of illicit drugs, Udeh assured the agency of continued collaboration and advocacy to deter individuals from engaging in practices that could jeopardize their future.
Earlier, the Assistant Commander General of Narcissistic and Zone-K boss of the NDLEA, Biashinah Bridget, highlighted the critical need for synergy between the agency and the Ministry of Justice to combat drug abuse and trafficking in the State.
She expressed concern about the increasing use of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as “Mkpuru Mmiri” which has devastated many youths in the region.

A Director in the Ministry of Justice, Barr. Uzoamaka Okeji, while applauding the NDLEA’s dedication to creating a drug-free society, added that the initiative reflected Governor Peter Mbah’s broader agenda of fostering peace, health, and security in Enugu State, ensuring a conducive environment for development and progress.
