The Deputy Chief Whip of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Obiajulu Princess Ugwu, has applauded the zeal and determination of the founding fathers, who championed the creation of Enugu from the old Anambra State.
Ugwu, who stated this in a statement released on Tuesday in Enugu to mark thirty-two years of the state, calls for celebration in appreciation of God’s goodness in the state.
The Deputy Chief Whip stressed that the state has maintained its place as the administrative and industrial nerve centre of the eastern region through the concerted efforts of successive administrations in the state.
She expressed the believe that the eight assembly will initiated and passed people-oriented laws and motions, which will further consolidate the peace and progress in the State.
According to her, the impressive developmental strides being recorded is because of the active support of the people of the state and should not be taken for granted.
“My sincere appreciation must also go to our fore fathers who made sacrifices and were resolute in their struggles to achieve the creation of Enugu state.
“These men of honour and great minds which posterity will for ever remember as the founding fathers of Enugu state are: Chief C C Onoh, Igwe Charles Abangwu, Igwe J U Nwodo and Chief Enechi Onyia.
“Others are Justice M U Obayi, Chief P C Ndu, Chief Dan Ogbobe, Chief D O Nnamani, Igwe Edward Nnaji, Igwe Udemgaba Maduka, Igwe Justice Eze Ozobu, Justice Achi Kanu, and other heroes and heroines.
“The creation of Enugu state 32 years ago therefore, birthed excitement and sense of accomplishment for all the Wawa speaking people of Igbo land”, Ugwu added.
