Ekwunife Pays Tribute as Nri Community Bids Farewell to Late Ezinne Victoria Obielom

The ancient town of Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State came to a standstill today being Friday, 4th of June, 2025 as family, friends, parishioners, and well-wishers gathered at St Peter’s Catholic Church Nri for the funeral mass of Late Ezinne Victoria Nwamaka Obielom (née Onuegbu), popularly known as Ebubeagu, Fashion.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, The Most Reverend Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor, who offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed matriarch and admonished the faithful on the importance of living a life worthy of heaven.

Late Ezinne Victoria, aged 70, was remembered for her natural intelligence and deep spiritual grounding. Bishop Ezeokafor described her as a woman whose interaction always revealed profound wisdom and grace. She was a former President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) at St Peter’s Catholic Church Nri, Sacred Heart, among other key roles in the church and community.

Speaking at the funeral, Distinguished Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife (PhD, CON) extolled the virtues of the late Ezinne, describing her as a woman of impeccable pedigree. Senator Ekwunife noted that the deceased lived a life of impact and urged the family to sustain the legacies she left behind. She prayed for God to grant the soul of Ezinne Victoria eternal rest and to console her husband, Mr. Anthony Obielom, her children Obi, Gerald, Ekene and the entire Obielom family of Diodo Village, Nri.

The funeral was a moving tribute to a life well lived, with testimonies pouring in from all corners. Her legacy of faith, leadership, and compassion remains indelible in the hearts of those who knew her.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
