Ekwunife Celebrates International Day of The Girl Child

The All Progressives Congress (APC), deputy governorship candidate in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Sen. Dr. Uche Ekwunife, has sent her message of felicitations to all girls in Anambra State at the International Girl child day celebration.

Ekwunife in her goodwill message to commemorate the day, yesterday, encouraged the girl child to be strong, resilient, creative, to fulfill their potential.

The statement in full below:

GIRLS MUST NOT BE DETERRED BY DISCOURAGEMENTS

As the world marks the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child with the theme ‘The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,’  I want to take a moment to celebrate every Nigerian girl.

You are strong, resilient, creative, and full of potential. You are not just victims of challenges; you are leaders, change-makers, and builders of the future.

When we empower the girl child through education, mentorship, and equal opportunities, we empower the entire nation. Every girl deserves the freedom to dream, to lead, and to thrive without fear or limitation.

I want to especially tell our girls: do not be discouraged by politically motivated comments or attempts to silence your voice. Never allow anyone to make you feel unqualified to lead, speak up, or take bold political steps. You have the right to shape your destiny and to contribute meaningfully to our society.

To parents, teachers, and leaders at all levels, let us continue to create a safe and supportive environment for our girls. The true progress of any nation is measured by how well it nurtures its girls to become women of vision, strength, and influence.
