A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Hycienth Ngwu, has mourned the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari, 82.
The family of Buhari, through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, and former aide, Bashir Ahmad, announced his death on Sunday while in a clinic in London at about 4:30p.m.
Ngwu, who is the former South-East Publicity Secretary of the APC, in a statement to newsmen in Enugu, said that “Nigeria has lost a less materialistic leader ever in the country’s history’’.
According to him, we are mourning, death is inevitable to everyone.
The APC chieftain noted that former President Buhari lived and died at 82, “a much fulfilled man”.
“He was able to achieve what many of his contemporaries could not achieve.
“He was rumored to have died while in office, but today, all Nigerians have agreed that it was all a social media brouhaha.
“This should be a lesson to all of us that only God can give life and take it at His appointed time.
“Believe it or not, we have lost a rare gem. A frank and decisive leader,” he said.
The APC chieftain prayed to God to forgive his shortcomings and accept his soul in Heaven.
He said, “May we not mourn as people without hope.
“Let us rekindle and renew our hope in President Bola Tinubu and continue to pray for God’s grace to make him bring economic salvation to Nigerians.”
