A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Enugu State, Dr. Anthony Ezenwa Onyirimba, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to improve the economy of the country.
He also commended him for establishing the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), to address historical neglect and marginalization of the region.
Onyirimba gave the commendation during an interview with newsmen in Enugu on Sunday.
He said the president has stabilised the economy from the precarious situation it inherited on assumption of office, emphasizing that the country had improved economically through his bold reforms and policies.
The APC chieftain commended the president for his numerous programmes and policies such as the introduction of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which had helped provide accessible financial aid to students pursuing higher education in tertiary institutions.
Others are the Conditional Cash Transfer, (CCT), introduction of business and agric support grants and dualization of the Makurdi- Otukpo-9th Mile road project.
“So, these are the areas I can tell you that Southeast has been benefiting and enjoying from the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”he said.
While commending security agencies for fighting insecurity in the country, Onyirimba, disclosed that the recent wave of insecurity, especially kidnapping, needed urgent attention.
Onyirimba, however, called for more political appointments from the southeast.
“I’m using this opportunity to advise Mr. President if I’m in the position to do so, he needs to show South East better than what we’re getting.
“We need to be carried along better. He’s doing his best, like the last appointment that came out, we have seen some of our elder statesmen in it, but we expect more. We ask you to look into South-East.
“Also, the clamour by the South-East for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we’ve been seeking for that, we’ve been asking for his intervention in that, and we except that by now there would be a presidential pardon on him.”he pleaded.
