In his inaugural speech, the newly inaugurated State Chairman of ANLCA, Hon. Fred Chukwudi Ezinwa, pledged to improve on the achievements of the past leadership, promising to work hard to open the area for economic activities.

“I know the challenges here are numerous ranging from low cargo to the intermittent closure of the airport, and the difficulty of having an airline. The problems in our eyes are huge but I want to announce that they are surmountable.”he said.

He lamented the ban placed on the Enugu area command of the Nigeria Customs Service from receiving imported medicament, saying that it “is a big irony in a state where the state government is constructing the  biggest medical facility in Nigeria.

Ezinwa said the ban was a big disservice to the facility and the state and called on the federal government to lift the ban.

“The ban should be lifted considering the dangers such prohibition pose to the Southeastern part of Nigeria in times  of medical  needs and emergency. Lifting it will help to see that the association problem is solved already”, he said.

He called for synergy with the customs to get templates and benchmarks for smooth and fast clearance of frequently imported goods.

“My administration shall have a great space for mutual relationships with other government agencies, though not negating the laws and act guide different government agencies. We are law-abiding citizens, we are not infallible, and on that, I plead that we are seen as part of the progress and not competitors.

Ezinwa lauded the pioneer chairman of the Enugu Chapter, Mr Chinedu Abugu, and the outgone chairman, Prince Alex Nwokeabia Ejiamatu for being instrumental to what they are celebrating today.

“Indeed, they are today’s heroes of this event! I want to assure you that this leadership shall continue to work hand-in-hand with you people, to harness your wealth of experience in achieving objectives of our great association, ANLCA and the dream of our National President who is result-oriented president. Kudos!he said.
