Ani Inaugurates Committee To Drive Gov. Mbah’s Green House Farm Initiative In Enugu South

The Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, has inaugurated a committee to oversee the implementation of the Smart Green House Farm Project.

The inauguration which held at the Executive Chamber of the Local Government Headquarters, Uwani marked a key step in advancing Governor Peter Mbah’s agricultural modernization agenda.

The Smart Green House Farm Project is an initiative of the Enugu State Government aimed at transforming the agricultural sector through the adoption of climate-smart technologies.

The project is designed to boost food production, enhance crop yield, and reduce water usage while minimizing the negative impact on the environment. It also includes farmer training and support for improved agricultural practices. The project will be executed in two major communities within the local government: Amechi Uno and Ugwuaji Awkunanaw.

The committee inaugurated to lead this initiative is made up of 11 representatives, including farmers, agricultural experts, and local government officials. For the Amechi Uno project, the team includes Chief Christian Igwe (Chairman), Dr. Innocent Egbo (Secretary), Hon. Chigbogu Chukwu, Hon. Ifeanyi Ngene, Apostle Paul Okafor, and Rt. Hon. Egbo Okechukwu John. The Ugwuaji Awkunanaw team comprises Hon. Anthony Egbo (Chairman), Dr. Innocent Egbo (Secretary), Hon. Uche Nwankwo, Hon. Miracle O. Okafor, and Hon. Chijioke Agbo Prince.

During the inauguration, Hon. Ani charged the committee members to approach their responsibilities with dedication, emphasizing the project’s potential to combat hunger and poverty.

He noted that the successful implementation of the Smart Green House Farm would not only benefit local communities but also contribute meaningfully to state-wide development goals. The committee is expected to supervise the implementation, offer technical support and training, monitor progress, and ensure environmental sustainability throughout the process.

With the committee in place and government backing secured, the Smart Green House Farm Project is set to usher in a new era for agriculture in Enugu South, offering a path toward increased food production, enhanced farmer livelihoods, and a more resilient agricultural system.
