The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the November 8, 2025 Anambra governorship election, Sir Paul Chukwuma says his governorship ambition is anchored on a burning desire to make the welfare of the people the centre of governance.

Chukwuma said this on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Washington Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha during the YPP Onitsha North 1 constituency bye-election campaign flag-off.

The flag-off was preceeded by a road show by Sir Paul Chukwuma and his running mate, Uzu Okagbue, from Amawbia, near Awka, Anambra State capital to Onitsha.

The campaign train consisting of Chukwuma, Okagbue, party faithful, music groups and hundreds of tricycle and motorcycle riders plied the old Enugu-Onitsha road, traversing towns like Amawbia, Nawfia, Enugwu Ugwu, Abagana, Ifitedunu, Umunnachi, Umudioka, Ogidi and Nkpor before terminating at Onitsha.

The road show widely received by many residents of the areas traversed, was an opportunity for the governorship candidate and his running mate to connect and interact with the people.

The excited tricycle and motorcycle riders, who declared their support for the YPP, said the Chukwuma/Okagbue ticket represents hope for the masses.

Speaking at the Washington Grammar school field, Chukwuma said he was in Onitsha with mixed feelings and great concern about the welbeing and security of the people. He stated that if there was security, there wouldn’t have been the need for the upcoming bye-election. The YPP governorship candidate, who observed one minute silence in honour of late Justice Azuka, said the best way to honour the late lawmaker is to ensure that his kinswoman replaces him.

He noted that the late Justice, who represented Onitsha North 1 constituency was from Ogbeoza clan and should be replaced by Princess Njideka Ndiwe of the YPP, who is also from Ogbeoza. According to him, Princess is capable of bettering the good works of late Justice Azuka.

While noting that YPP is a grassroots party that cares for the needs of the grassroots, the educationist urged the people to give their votes to the YPP in the August 16 bye-election and November 8, 2025 governorship election, assuring that any vote for the party is an assured future.

On his part, Okagbue charged the party failed from the wards in the constituency to deliver the party at the polls, assuring that the YPP will not disappoint the people. He also reminded them that after the August 16 Onitsha North 1 constituency bye-election, efforts should be doubled to deliver the party at the governorship election.

When she mounted the podium, the YPP candidate for Onitsha North 1 constituency bye-election, Princess Ndiwe assured not to disappoint the people. She stated that her election means more empowerment and upliftment of the constituents through impact full projects, legislation and programmes.

Ndiwe, who rolled out some of the empowerment she has made in her private capacity, stated that getting into a public office will afford her the opportunity to do more in a bigger and more reaching scale.

In his remark, the Anambra State chairman of YPP, Moses Obi, who handed handed over the party flag to Ndiwe, charged the party faithful to deliver her, saying that a win for the party is a win for all.
