The Umueri General Assembly, Awka branch has declared its unwavering support for the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), in the November 8, 2025 election, Sir Paul Chukwuma.
The total support was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the group, comrade Chinedu Ekweonu and the secretary Mazi Titus Ugo Nwoye, after their meeting in Awka.
The town union group resolved to advocate the candidacy of Chukwuma, describing him as a great son of Umueri.
They called on all sons and daughters of Umueri, to join the Sir Paul Chukwuma and Uzu Okagbue project, which is anchored on vision and sustainable development.
In a related development, Hon. Festus Omaremi has defected to the YPP.
Omaremi, a young and vibrant political figure in Anambra West, formally joined the YPP with all his supporters from his former party, Labour Party.
This comes few days after the lawmaker representing Ayamelum constituency in the Anambra state house of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Udemezue and his Awka South I constituency, Hon. Mbachu Henry, as well as some other declared support for the governorship ambition of Sir Paul Chukwuma.
