Saturday 25th October, 2025, marked a remarkable day as proud indigenes of Anambra State residing in Enugu State gathered in unity and cultural pride to celebrate their Annual Anambra Day/Iwaji Festival and Award Ceremony.
The colorful event took place at the popular Okpara Square, Enugu, and served not only as a platform for bringing together Anambra people based in Enugu but also as an opportunity to promote and preserve the rich culture and traditions of the Igbo people.
All 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State were well represented, alongside several guests and well-wishers from Enugu and neighboring states.
Corporate support came from Nigerian Breweries Plc, through its “Obiagu Campaign”, which is dedicated to celebrating and promoting Igbo heritage. The company’s flagship brands, Life Beer and Amstel Malta, proudly sponsored the event.
Speaking during the occasion, Iyom Joy Egolum, Corporate Affairs Manager (East) of Nigerian Breweries Plc, highlighted the company’s deep commitment to supporting cultural initiatives that strengthen Igbo identity and unity.
The event featured captivating cultural dance performances, masquerade displays, and special presentations from various Anambra communities in attendance.
The Governor of Anambra State, ably represented by the Commissioner for Culture, conveyed the Governor’s goodwill message, commending the organizers and reaffirming the government’s full support for the association’s mission of promoting unity and cultural continuity among Anambra indigenes living outside the state.
It was truly a day of cultural pride, unity, and celebration of heritage — a testament to the enduring spirit of Ndi Anambra.
