Recall that Chukwuma had hinged his withdrawal from the APC primary election and resignation from the party on alleged irregularities in the process of the conduct of the election.

At the primary election held at the NUT House, Udoka Housing estate Awka, through option A4 system of voting, the former governorship aspirant under the APC, emerged the flagbearer of the YPP after polling a total of 366 votes out of 374 votes cast.

Though, he was the only aspirant, accredited delegates were required to either confirm his nomination by queuing behind him or otherwise.

366 delegates voted ‘yes’ , while eight delegates voted ‘no.’

Announcing the result, the chairman of the electoral committee and returning officer for the election, Barrister Vidiyenu Bamayi, declared that the election adhered strictly to the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.

While presenting certificate of return to Chukwuma, the YPP national chairman, comrade Bishop Amakiri described the entrance of the former seminarian as a new beginning for the party and charged him to take the YPP to a new height.
