The chairman of Udenu local government Area, Aka Eze Aka, has intensified the council’s environmental sanitation campaign with the ongoing cleaning and desilting of drainage channels along the Obollo Afor–Orba Road, in a bid to curb flooding and protect public health.

The operation involves removing silt, debris and refuse that have accumulated over time and impeded the free flow of water.

The intervention is part of a wider programme to improve infrastructure maintenance and promote a cleaner, safer environment for residents.

The council Boss said the administration remained committed to environmental sustainability, noting that routine desilting of major drainage channels was especially critical during the rainy season to reduce flood risks and prevent outbreaks of water-borne diseases.

He also warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of waste into drains, arguing that such practices undermine public efforts and put lives and property at risk.

Traders, motorists and residents along the corridor were urged to cooperate with sanitation officials by keeping drainage channels clear.
