ESWAMA Announces October Clean-Up Exercise, Restricts Movement

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced that this month’s environmental clean-up exercise will hold on Saturday, (today) October 25, 2025, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Chikwelu Udoka, the agency stated that movement of people and vehicles during the exercise is prohibited, except for those on essential duties who must present valid identification or an official ESWAMA pass. Offenders will be arrested and prosecuted by the Environmental Mobile Court.

The Authority also directed that all early morning sporting activities, loading and offloading of passengers in motor parks, and other commercial operations should be suspended during the sanitation hours.

ESWAMA further reminded residents that enforcement against illegal dumping of refuse, scavenging around waste dumps, and disposal of waste outside the approved hours of 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. remains ongoing. It urged residents to pay their sanitation rates promptly through designated e-ticketing agents to avoid penalties..
