Anambra State has once again been thrown into mourning barely days after the bloodbath at Onitsha Main Market. The chaos erupted on Thursday, September 11, during a burial ceremony in Ogidi, Idemili North LGA, leaving four dead and over 15 critically wounded.

This latest killing spree has sent shockwaves across the state, deepening fears and triggering outrage as citizens grapple with incessant insecurity and fear.

This is happening at the period of the state’s political climate heating up ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial elections.

On this note, APC candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (IKUKUOMA) has broken down in tears visibly heartbroken by the horror footage from Ogidi.

“This is one killing too many!” Ukachukwu declared, his voice cracking with emotion, during a press briefing in Awka.

According to eyewitness reports, the burial ceremony at Ezi Village, Ogidi, started as a peaceful family event. But by evening, chaos erupted when armed men believed to be cultists stormed the venue on motorbikes and opened fire indiscriminately.

“It was like a movie. People were running helter-skelter. They didn’t even warn us. Four people were shot dead instantly, and over 20 injured,”said Madam Grace, an attendee.

However, the PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said the attack was a coordinated cult-related assault. He said 16 expended cartridges were recovered at the crime scene. Although, investigations are underway, but arrests have not yet been made.

It will be recalled to that this is not an isolated incident. In the past years alone, Ihiala witnessed a similar massacre during burial preparations with 7 killed, including five police officers.

While in Awka North, Amandea to be precise, cultists desecrated the corpse of a rival gang leader, turning the burial into a bloodbath.

Coincidentally, few days before the Ogidi attack, security operatives under the aegis of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Bridgade) reportedly opened fire at Onitsha Main Market, killing several traders and sparking riots.

These violent episodes now form a disturbing pattern raising serious questions about Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s ability to protect lives and property in Anambra.

“We can no longer watch our state turn into a killing field,” said Prince Ukachukwu.
“Anambra is bleeding. Our people are crying and the land is angry.”

Ukachukwu, fondly called “Ikukuoma” by his supporters through his Campaign Council released a scathing statement, describing the state government as a “murderous regime”, led by a “professor of mass killings and mass burials.”

He declared that Anambra’s soil, spirits, and citizens have “rejected Soludo” and called on voters to rise boldly in defense of their land.

“This is not our culture. Shedding innocent blood is a taboo. It must stop. Vote Ukachukwu/Ekwunife of the APC. Rescue Anambra from this nightmare, ” he emphasized.

He promised a people-centered government with zero tolerance for impunity and a total overhaul of Anambra’s security architecture.

“I’m not here for politics. I’m here to rescue my people,” he said.
