The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, has taken decisive steps to strengthen grassroots collaboration in tackling security challenges across the state.

This follows the recent approval by the Inspector-General of Police for the hosting of a comprehensive Police Security Summit in Anambra State. The summit is a bold and strategic initiative aimed at finding practical solutions to ongoing security issues, restoring peace, and building trust between the Police and the people.

The summit is planned to hold in phases across the three senatorial districts of the state. These sessions will involve key stakeholders and citizens at the grassroots level. The process will culminate in a grand finale where communities will converge at a central venue to jointly discuss shared concerns and identify sustainable solutions to insecurity.

The summit will serve as a people-focused platform for open dialogue, peacebuilding, community-police collaboration, and intelligence sharing.

During the visit, the Commissioner emphasized the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting safety and peaceful coexistence within communities. He called on the royal fathers to lend their voice and influence in mobilizing local support for community policing initiatives.

CP Orutugu stated firmly that security is a collective responsibility, and that the Police under his leadership are ready to listen, collaborate, and act decisively alongside with community leaders to defeat all threats to peace in Anambra.

The Anambra State Police Command assures Ndi Anambra that it remains resolute, proactive, and open to meaningful partnerships with all relevant stakeholders;traditional rulers, community leaders, religious organizations, civil society groups, and sister security agencies.

CP Orutugu’s advocacy visits are expected to continue across the state in the days ahead, in preparation for the successful rollout of the summit.

The Police Command reiterates its firm stance: no individual group will be allowed to destabilize the peace and progress of Anambra State. The security and wellbeing of all residents will continue to be protected with professionalism, courage, and full respect for human rights.
