Enugu Monarchs Pray For Gov Mbah’s 2nd Term, Laud His Transformational Leadership

Traditional rulers from Enugu East Senatorial District of Enugu State have declared their support and solidarity to the administration of Gov Peter Mbah, describing him as a transformational leader who has come to change the fortunes of the state for the better.

In a communique released to journalists in Enugu, Thursday, after their inaugural meeting at the palace of HRM Igwe Julius Nnaji, Odezuligbo II of Nike, Enugu East local government area, the Royal fathers praised Gov Mbah for maintaining the social contract he signed with the good people of Enugu State.

The communique read by HRM Igwe Julius Nnaji, the Chairman of Enugu East Traditional Rulers Council and 1st Vice Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, recounted the governor’s innovative achievements in the areas of education, transportation (both land and air), water supply, security, enhanced IGR, healthcare, infrastructure and human capital development.

“In Education sector, he is constructing smart schools in two hundred and sixty wards in order to promote computer literacy and artificial intelligence in the rural communities.

“In Health sector, he is constructing type 2 health centers in 260 wards in the state and type 3 in the 17 Local Government Areas, to promote the hope of the rural dwellers e.t.c,” they said.

The royal fathers who also received in audience, the State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, and the State Commander of Forest Guard, DCP Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo (rtd), who briefed them on security situation in the state, commended the governor for the establishment of the command and control center with modern security equipment and surveillance cameras across the state.

“His Excellency, has also brought peace in various communities, stabilize security atmosphere, restructured Neighbourhood Watch and Forest Guards activities thereby prioritizing security with keen interest to maintain kinetic and non-kinetic, welfare and synergy.”

The traditional rulers described Gov Mbah as the “chosen David” and a pragmatic leader with every sense of commitment to redirect the affairs of governance, re-building the image of Enugu people, re-shaping the face of the State, as well as constructing and reconstructing access roads in every nook and crannies in the state.

“The Traditional Rulers of your zone, convoke the spirit of our ancestors to protect your endeavours, the creator who brought you as a gift will surely elevate you higher and grant you more wisdom to lead us to the right direction.

“Your second tenure in office God willing is a sure testament because one good turn deserves another,” they prayed.

The traditional rulers commended the governorship candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 governorship elections, Barr Chijioke Edeoga and others who for purpose of peace and unity in the Senatorial zone, declared support to the Governor.

“We advocate for spirit of understanding among our sons and daughters in political positions irrespective of political affiliation to join hand with our leader to develop Enugu State.”

The traditional rulers further noted that “As Royal fathers, we are apolitical in nature, but our duty is to promote peaceful co-existence among our people.

“Political party is a vehicle that helps drive one to his destination. Your first tenure is a testimony and a revelation to Ndi-Enugu that we have credible sons and daughters who has keen interest to put Enugu in the map of the world.”

Fielding questions from journalists, HRM Igwe Fidelis O. Nwatu, Ezeagabi the 2nd of Ihuokpara community, and HRH Igwe Ezeudo Abel Nwobodo, Awalagu 1 of Umuoghalagu Unateze, Nara Clan and 1st Grand Patron of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, said that they used the opportunity of the inaugural meeting to appraise the performance of Gov Mbah after two years in office.

Igwe Nwatu said, “Today we have been together to evaluate our governor, what he has been doing since he assumed office. This is the first time we are coming out to appraise him, appreciate him because he has been doing wonderfully well in the state”

On his part, Igwe Nwobodo said, “First of all we rejoice that the governor is doing well and that he knows that the only thing you can do is to give service to humanity. We are also happy that the head of the Forest Guards cam here and told us that traditional rulers should take part to see that he forest Guards works well. So we really rejoiced and we cooperated effectively “.

Earlier the traditional ruler of Ibagwa Nike community, HRM Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu, Ezeokwe 1 of Okwe Kingdom, described the meeting as fruitful and a new beginning that will see increased positive involvement of royal fathers in promoting peace, unity and development in Enugu East zone in particular and the state in general.
