Nigerian Army Set For Test Firing of Weapons In Enugu

The Headquarters of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, has announced that it will be conducting test firing of weapons exercise on Tuesday, 29th April 2025 at Abakpa Military Cantonment.

The routine exercise is a crucial activity designed to ascertain weapons serviceability, effectiveness and readiness for deployment within the Division Area of Responsibility.

It is also part of ongoing effects to enhance operational readiness and ensure national security.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu,  in Enugu on Monday.

Unuakhalu advised residents of Abakpa Military Cantonment and environs not to panic on hearing of gunshots sounds on the mentioned date.

“Similarly, the general public and the residents of the cantonment are advised to stay away from the exercise area throughout the aforementioned date as it will involve the use of live ammunition.”he said.

“Thank you for your usual cooperation and please accept the esteem regards of the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigeria Army,” Unuakhalu added.
