A 38-year old man, Balogun Yekini, appeared before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Thursday, charged with sexual assault.
Yekini, whose address was not given, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 17, at 19 Embassy Hotel Str, Pashoku, Aga area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Isaac told the court that the defendant lured a 15-year old boy to a hotel room with the intention to unlawfully have sexual intercourse with him.
He said that during investigation, it was discovered that the defendant had past records of booking hotel rooms and taking in minors.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravenes Section 262 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 262 of the law prescribes 14 years jail term for anyone found guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr B.A. Sonuga, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Sonuga said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant with Lagos State, while the other must be a blood relation of the defendant.
He further said that the sureties must provide evidence of tax payment, and that their addresses should be verified by the court.
The Magistrate adjourned the case until June 19 for mention.
