Faithspiration Initiative Extends Lenten Charity Outreach To Enugu Community

Opi-Agu in Nsukka local government, Enugu State was excited recently  when  Faithspiration Initiative visited the Community with Lenten Charity and message of hope.

Recall  that the outreach to Opi-Agu  Community was sequel to the Valentine’s Charity Mission that saw the religious group in reaching out to Onitsha Federal Prison and Bro Adaka in Awada.

Other Charity outreach they embarked was Olumbanasa including Odeh, Odomagwu, and Igbokenyi, as well as their sick brothers and sisters in Bamenda, Republic of Cameroon.

Additionally, they recognized the plight of some particular vulnerable individuals, during  which they made further financial interventions in specific cases, ensuring that urgent needs were addressed.

Opi-Agu Nsukka holds a special place in the heart of Faithspiration Initiative, as it was there their Charity mission first began in 2021.

That year, their founder, Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, built a befitting house for a poor widow who had previously lived in a dilapidated and uninhabitable structure. Since then, Opi-Agu Nsukka has remained a mission post for their work of love, Charity and services.

However, their core mission is the principle of Charity of presence before Charity of presents before offering material gifts which they first extend the gift of presence, standing in solidarity with those they serve, sharing in their stories, and reaffirming their divine sonship and fraternity in Christ Jesus.

This was once again evident in their visit as they do not only brought material support but also words of hope, encouragement, and faith. The  “caritas Christi urget nos,” meaning the love of Christ compels them to see in every person the face of Christ and to respond with the same love Christ has shown them.

In keeping with their commitment to uplifting the less privileged, they distributed a bag of rice accompanied by N10,000 each to 50 families, regardless of their religious affiliation—Catholics, non-Catholics, and even those who identify as traditional religionists.

This gesture underscores their believe that Charity transcends all barriers and that love, as Christ taught, is for all people no matter denomination.

Upon arrival at Opi-Agu, they  were warmly received by the community and their new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Paschal Nweke, who recently replaced Rev. Fr. Dennis Alumona.

Their joy was palpable, and their gratitude immeasurable. Also present on the Charity mission were Rev. Fr. Pharm. Evaristus Ebuka Ezeani and Rev. Fr. Valentine Obiagwu, who joined in sharing words of encouragement and solidarity.

It was a successful journey/ visit that ended on a joyful note as Faithspiration Initiative members danced together in thanksgiving before bidding  farewell to the Community.

Meanwhile, as they set their sights on further works of Charity in  this Lenten season, they remain inspired by the words of Isaiah 58:7 which says” Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?”

Therefore, this call to selfless services and almsgiving remains at the heart of Faithspiration Initiative’s mission as their journey of love and services continues
