In a case heard at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Inspector Elizabeth Osikolu testified about a woman named Omolara Alashe, who allegedly forced a 19-year-old girl to sleep with her husband to bear a child.

Omolara and her husband, Ramoni Lateef, face charges of conspiracy, rape, and sexual assault, to which they have pleaded not guilty.

Osikolu explained that the incident occurred in 2022 in Lagos after the victim’s mother passed away. The couple had offered the teenager a place to stay.

While living with them, the victim reported being physically abused whenever she made mistakes.

During her testimony, Osikolu described a specific incident where Omolara allegedly woke the teenager in the middle of the night, stripped her naked, and allowed her husband to have sex with her.

The investigation revealed that the couple had previously had a baby, who died in October 2022, and after this loss, they decided to use the teenager to bear children to prevent Ramoni from marrying someone else.

The witness also noted that Omolara physically abused the girl, including an incident where she beat her and inserted her fingers into the teenager’s vagina.

Additionally, Omolara allegedly seized the victim’s belongings, including her ATM card and salary, to control her.

During cross-examination, defense attorney Mr. Lekan Egberongbe questioned the credibility of the victim’s claims, but Osikolu maintained that the victim’s report was truthful.

She pointed out that if the teenager had consented to the acts, she wouldn’t have reported the incidents to the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency or sought medical examination.
