The Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of St. Charles Parish, Umudim Imezi Owa in Ezeagu Council Area, says it is committed to empowering women in the community.
Mrs Celestina Okechi, the President of the group in the parish stated this when Action Aid in conjunction with Women Aid Collective (WACOL), Enugu provided the CWO of the parish with office equipment and seats for hiring.
She described CWO as a Christian Organisation dedicated and committed in improving lives of women in the rural community by providing financial and material support to them.
According to her, it is all about empowering Christain Women Organistion in Umudim Imezi Owa.
Okechi said Action Aid in conjunction with WACOL provided office equipment and seats for hiring for CWO as part of their project in empowering women in the community.
The chairs, she said, would help to improve the lives of women in the Parish when they hire it and money would be paid to them.
“This is a project that started about five years ago which came to a close on June 25, 2024.
“Aside the project, their spiritual life is also being attended to, to avoid them derail to paganism,” she said.
She commended Action Aid and WACOL for putting smiles on the faces of rural women.

Programme Manager, Mrs Anulika Ezennia, thanked the CWO for successful implementation of Women’s Voice and Leadership Project which strengthens their capacity in designing and implementing Women’s Rights Programmes in their community.
She added that the second phase of the project would soon begin in the community and asked the women to pray for ActionAid to consider them in the second phase.
