Venerable Azubuike Nduka, the Sub-Dean, Anglican Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Enugu, has urged Christians to use the Easter to go extra mile to extend love to the downtrodden.

Nduka gave the advice in an press statement to commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday in Enugu.

According to the cleric, Easter is a symbol of selfless life lived by Jesus Christ, who died for salvation of mankind, for the deep love God Almighty and Himself have for humanity.

“Christ died for the sins of others, so Christians should go the extra mile to show same love to others, look for the downtrodden, make sacrifices for them, do your very best to alleviate people from poverty.

“If God has given you the opportunity to liberate people from suffering, do not hesitate, this is what Christ did for us.

“While we were yet sinners, He died for us.

“Christians should not close their eyes to the sufferings of others, because Christ did not close his eyes to the sufferings of humanity, he said.

Nduka noted that “Christ set us free, that we might live”, urging Christians to do same, by showing love to people around them.

“With this, we will uplift many from lack, hopelessness and depression and give them a better life in the society,” he added.
