NRI MOBILIZES FOR DARLYNTON NONSO OKOYE(NIMOD): A Call To Save A Life.
Mr. Nonso Okoye is one of the most resourceful and community services driven Nri youths in the annals of our history.
His achievements both as the President of Nri Students Union(UNN Chapter) and Nri in general are yet to be equalled.
After his distinguished graduation from UNN(Political Science Dept) and owing to difficulties in the labour market, Nonso returned to Nri community where he became an ad-hoc teacher in the two major Secondary Schools in Nri where he initiated a popular extra-mural classes that adequately prepared our younger ones for Senior School Certificate Examinations.
Nonso’s intellectual dispositions, academic drive and spirit of excellence endeared him to late Prof. Miriam Ikejiani Clark who offered him a teaching career at UNN(Political Science Dept).
This erudite Scholar, father of one, author and Nri patriot has served as Compere/anchor in many intellectual and cultural programs in Nri until his health started failing him few years ago.
What started as a heart disease finally led to a heart failure that badly affected his kidney and liver.
The 39 year old Nonso has done kidney dialysis for five times and about to do the sixth one but unfortunately could not proceed due to financial straits that today he is lying critically ill and unconscious in Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu and his debilitating health situation has left his young wife and family heart broken and in tears.
The savings of a poor lecturer has been drained in the course of the search for life and his close family members and the university community have all donated their hearts out in the course of Saving Nonso’s life.
Ndi be anyi(Our people) ife onye na-eme ka ekwe ji akpo ya( The drum of goodness beats for the good only).
Nonso Okoye’s case is a clear case of one who gave all to Nri community and his past good deeds makes a demand on you and me to ensure he gets the best medical care money can afford.
There is no other time than now to show love to this great Nri patriot and in doing so, ndi Nri will be fulfilling that great words of Winston Churchill which said
“WE MAKE A LIVING BY WHAT WE GET BUT WE MAKE A LIFE BY WHAT WE GIVE”
